Bethlehem municipality disputes American Congress resolution

July 15, 2006

Ma'am News Agency

Bethlehem-Ma'an- The board of the Bethlehem municipality issued a statement in which they expressed their disappointment and condemnation of the resolution proposed to the US Congress by Michael McCaul , representative of Texas. This resolution was alleged to denounce the hatred towards Christians in Palestine by the Palestinian Authority and to hold it responsible for their migration.

The municipality's statement explained "that the information on which the American resolution was built was definitely wrong and misleading. None of the reliable sources was consulted especially the heads of churches in Palestine." The statement related the Palestinian migration of both Muslims and Christians to the Israeli aggressions which rendered life in the holy territories very difficult to non-Jews.
