Protesters conduct mock bin Laden hanging

CULVER CITY, Calif. -Activists protesting radical Islam conducted a mock hanging of Osama bin Laden across the street from a mosque on the eve of the anniversary of the 2001 terror attacks.
With a crowd of about 100 people shouting "Remember 9-11!" and "No more Jihad!" two men on the back of a pickup truck Sunday slipped a noose around the neck of a dummy wearing a bin Laden mask and strung it up, while the crowd pelted the effigy with shoes.
The protest near the King Fahd Mosque was organized by the United American Committee, a group that says it promotes awareness of internal threats facing America.
About 70 counter-protesters described the mosque as a peaceful center for area Muslims and yelled "Racists go home!" during the ritual. A group of clergy joined hands with some of the mosque's worshippers and stood in a circle in front of the mosque.
"I think it's crazy," said mosque spokesman Usman Madha. "We have never encouraged extremism. We were the first mosque that condemned the Sept. 11 atrocities and we kicked out a few people that protested that condemnation."
The United American Committee claimed the mosque supports radical Islam. A report from the Sept. 11 commission said investigators believed two of the hijackers had visited the mosque after arriving in the United States in 2000.
There were several heated exchanges as protesters crossed the street to confront one another, but no violence and no arrests, Culver City police said.

It is a shame that so many American’s are listening to the propaganda media hype and using racism towards millions of innocent people to perpetrate their hate, without sufficient evidence just innuendo and hearsay so many American’s are attacking innocent hardworking Muslims and it is getting worse by the day.
United American Committee talk about destroying Jihad without knowledge of what Jihad really is, I have noticed these Islamphobic's so full of hate are doing so with so little knowledge of an ancient culture or the truth towards the religion of Islam. They also contend they are about stopping Islamic extremism, to me standing outside a Mosque throwing shoes at a mock Osama bin Laden; what is this if not extremism in the purest American form?
I was told once; when a person makes the loudest noise to make another person look bad in people’s eyes that it is usually the person screaming the loudest that has the problem. Bush started the phrase Islamic-fascism that a lot of these kind of groups are now taking up as their charge the battle field phrase, so I guess Bush is doing a good job of keeping many American’s blind to his real agenda by diverting their eyes and minds from the truth and keep their blood so hot it is boiling over to the stressful breaking point.
At one time America was based on many freedoms and in recent years especially with Bush’s Patriot Act, that most freedoms American’s as a whole came to cherish has come to and end. Then you have what use to be the bases of the foundation of America, freedom of religion because many Europeans came to this continent so long ago because they said they had religious persecution and came here to have the right to practice their religion as they wished, well sadly that apparently is no more. Well done Bush government and the Christian Fundamentalist, you destroyed a country!
What is ironic, is the more the Bush government threatens other Islamic countries, keeps creating war’s and murdering Muslims as well as their own military; this seems to be ok in these Islamphobic's blind eyes, but people do not realize that attacks on a people always brings the same back to the home soil. The more Muslims are attacked the more some will hate those that hate them, also what the American public has missed the point from the beginning is why was their a 9/11, their had to be a root cause for it happening; things like this doesn’t just happen for no reason. And these American’s who ask why; need to understand we as the Muslim or Arab people are innocent as a whole. What came out of 9/11 should have united people to the root cause not created more martyrs.
As for the more hate groups spring up like this one, the more you are going to have a backlash from those who are attacked and I will assure you the majority of Muslims especially in America do not wish this, just the opposite, we ask why their really was a 9/11 also just like you who are non-Muslim and are saddened to the fact it happened. And yes there is those of use that remember each year the anniversary of that horrible day.
Most people are taught you get more friends with honey then vinegar, try it sometime and make the world a better place because no one wishes an enemy; but as the hate keeps growing so does the enemies and this makes for a very sad day.
Also a final note, when someone falls down and has a bloody knee, isn’t it better to help them up and clean the wound then pour salt on it?
