Assalamu alaikum,
Americans put a value onto something depending on how much money it produces, and i hope that they won't start saying that stay-at-home-mom is good considering the high "salary." They are completely missing the point of raising children properly.

Waalaikumu salam Mariam,

What originally brought this article to mind, was many years ago now my mother out of curiosity with the legal beginning wage in America figured out how much time she spent per year taking care of all of us. He conclusion wad if my father had to pay her he could afford her and I say this with humor and nothing more.

I think most husbands and I was teasing my husband when I read this article that no man could afford to get married if this is what they had to do, pay a wage. Also, I thought of the implications of all the things a wife and mother actually does and if you went to University to learn all these skills you would be there probably forever.

One thing that use to be taught and I hope still is inshaallah that being a wife and a mother is the most honored life that they could choose and for that it is priceless.

If women think because they get married and have a family and should be paid for it with money they are being silly actually in my opinion. Being a wife and a mother myself, for my daughter or son to say they love me is worth more then all the gold on earth.
