The Tawbah Way

Do not forget, Shaytan’s influence can be through a little whisper.

Tawbah, means repentance in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised us to ask Allah’s forgiveness for our Haraam (sins) throughout the day.

In Islam, there is no concept of confession to a priest like in Catholicism or burnt offerings to atone for sins. Likewise, there is no virtue in airing your bad deeds in public. Haraam’s are a private matter between the sinner and Allah. Only when a person breaks civil laws should the public know about it.

Islam teaches that when you do a bad deed it will be held against you on judgment day. The only way to remove the stain of the bad deed is to follow a basic four-step process.

*Feel remorse about the bad deed.

*Repent your action to Allah by saying, “May Allah forgive me.”

*Make restitution for the bad deed if possible.

*Resolve sincerely never to do the sin again. Allah has promised to forgive our sins if we seek His forgiveness sincerely.
