Nafha Announces Death of Prisoner's Mother
Nablus – Ma'an – The Nafha Association for Defending Palestinian Prisoners and Human Rights on Saturday announced the death of the mother of prisoner Salama Mir'i, who died on Friday before she was able to visit her son in jail.
Her other son said that the deceased was due to visit Salama last Monday, but was prohibited by the Israeli authorities, who denied her the necessary permit.
Salama is a long-term detainee, apprehended in 1993, and sentenced to life imprisonment and an additional forty years.
There are currently 365 Palestinian prisoners who have spent over fourteen years in custody, meaning that they were seized before the Oslo Accords.
