Bush's Remarks, Threat to Global Security: Hosseini

18 October 2007

Tehran-Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said on Thursday that US President George Bush's remarks account for threats to international security.

Hosseini added that the president's statements in press conference on Wednesday indicated hegemonic and ambitious objectives of the US neo-conservatives, which will stir militarist approach in the international community.

The US approach has jeopardized tranquility and security in international community and created impediments to global stability and peace, he said.

Hosseini said that the current atmosphere of election campaign in the United States and failure of the US performance in Iraq and Afghanistan have led the war-mongering approach of neo-conservatives to a dead-end, so their survival at the top of Washington's policy making hierarchy has become ambiguous.

He noted that they use rhetoric and literature of war to cover up domestic and international difficulties they created.

Hosseini added that US officials had better avoid promoting war and militarist approach, instead, respect international demand for peace, security and tranquillity and national sovereignty and territorial integrity of other nations.

Bush warned world leaders that they should stop Iranian nuclear program if they want to thwart World War III.
