Telling Lies against Allah (and His Messenger)
Allah says in the Quran, “ And on the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied against Allah, their faces will be black. Is there not in Hell an abode for the arrogant?” (Al-Zumar 39:60)And the messenger of Allah (PBUH) is reported to have said, "Whoever tells a lie against me intentionally, then (surely) let him occupy his seat in Hell-Fire.” (Al-Bukhari)
Telling lies against Allah and His Messenger (PBUH) is to say, “Allah said” when Allah did not say it; or to say the Prophet said, when he did not say it. Also, to say that a legal act is illegal or that an illegal act is legal in Islam falls under this category of being major sins.
