Double-bombing in Baghdad

May 8 - Double-bombing in Baghdad wounds 17. Aftermath from Sunday's attack in Kerbala which killed 21 and wounded 52, meanwhile saboteurs blow up oil pipeline.

Several people were feared wounded after a car bomb exploded close to an Iraqi army patrol in eastern Baghdad on Monday (May 8), police said.

The attack took place in al-Rubaie street at the eastern neighbourhood of the Iraqi capital.

Earlier on Monday (May 8), seventeen people, including several policemen, were wounded in a twin bomb attack in eastern Baghdad, police sources said.

A roadside bomb detonated on the Palestine street wounding two civilians and as emergency services approached the site of the blast, a second car bomb went off wounding four officers and 11 others.

On Sunday (May 7), two car bombs killed nine people in the capital and a suicide car bomber blasted a crowded street in the Shi'ite city of Kerbala. Senior officials disputed the death toll of 21 given by police and medics who dealt with the casualties.

In a statement released by Jaish Al Mugahideen on an Internet forum frequented by militants they released a video showing a US Amored Personnel Carrier being attacked by an Improvised Explosive Device. The statement claims all on board were killed. US military officials have not aknowledges any US deaths resulting from this attack.
