Salaam, Lawrence of Arabia

Ramallah, Palestine

Cairo, Egypt at Night

I am yet to wonder why people in the West remarks that anyone in the East lives solely with their Camel, hence “Camel Jockey!” I was told once by a friend that the idiom came from the America Military in Iraq, which makes the American Military look disgraceful. Even worse, just plain foolish!

I realize that the West knows very little about the East except what they have read in Westernized books or movies, but hey this is the twenty-first century. I mean do people still think in Egypt that it is the land of the Pharaoh’s and everyone there looks like Charlton Heston from “The Ten Commandments?”

While their still is Bedouins in the Middle East, most people live in modernized cities that don’t look dissimilar to the West. One thing the East has been known for is combining the old with the new which is commendable, but like in Saudi Arabia for example with the destruction of buildings and area’s of historical significance not to just Islam but the world has a whole is a shame; because it is destroying history for future generations.

Some people would rather see the severe destructions but what they are not taking into account if they are religious at all; they are destroying landmarks for not just Muslims, but Christians and Jews also.

Let’s not forget the history of the East was the beginning of the known world and yes some of what is there is as a reminder of the past and by destruction to this part of the world and its people will cause a backlash of cataclysmic portions.

Like in Palestine, this is where Allah’s heart is and no religion in the world could doubt this because of one place Jerusalem!

For you who likes to call us "Camel Jockey,"
a Bedouin camp. By the way, the Bedouin’s
have a reputation of being a kind and generous people.
