Video

On June 18th 2006 the Mujahideen Shura Council released a video of an attack on the Dawa Party Headquaters in Iraq. The Islamic Dawa Party or Islamic Call Party is an Iraqi political organization. It is one of the main Shi'ite parties. In the lead-up to the January 2005 Iraqi election it cooperated with the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq and other Shi'ite groups in the United Iraqi Alliance. The party is led by Ibrahim al-Jaafari, a doctor, who served as the Prime Minister of Iraq in the Iraqi Transitional Government from 2005 until May 20, 2006. The party's deputy leader, Nouri al-Maliki is the current Prime Minister of Iraq. The Mujahideen Shura Council has an agenda against the Shi'ite muslims in Iraq as well as the new Government of Iraq.

US soldiers kidnapping - Mujahedeen Shura Council claims responsibility

In a statement posted Monday on a website frequented by insurgents, an Al-Qaeda affiliated insurgency group, the Mujahedeen Shura Council, has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of two US soldiers last week in Iraq.

Pfc. Thomas Lowell Tucker, 25, of Madras, Oregon, and Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, 23, of Houston, Texas, were reportedly abducted Friday during an insurgent attack on a US position near Yusufiya, about 30 miles southwest of Baghdad. An Iraqi farmer, who was nearby at the time, said seven heavily armed gunmen captured two American soldiers during the attack.

In their brief statement Monday, the Mujahedeen Shura Council does not name the soldiers or provide details of the attack not already known. They do say they will provide more information and details soon.

The Mujahedeen Shura Council is an insurgency group whose formation was announced in early in 2006. It resulted in the consolidation of once diffuse, smaller groups into a larger, more powerful entity, bringing together al-Qaeda in Iraq and several smaller insurgency groups. It was once led Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

والله أكبر {وَلِلَّهِ الْعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُولِهِ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلَكِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ لا يَعْلَمُونَ}

Mujahedeen Shura Council holds four Russians in Iraq

In a statement posted on the internet Monday, the Mujahedeen Shura Council claimed responsibility for the killing of a Russian diplomat and the kidnapping of four embassy employees. On June 3, a car they were traveling in was ambushed by insurgents in Baghdad.

In the statement, the Mujahedeen Shura Council dismisses any opposition Russia expressed to the war in Iraq and criticized them for their stance on Chechnya. They also said they will not respect any claims of diplomatic immunity on the part of the Russian hostages.

The Al-Qaeda affiliated insurgency group also made a set of demands that must be met within 48 hours or they will not guarantee the safety of the four hostages. They demand Russia immediately pulls their troops out of Chechnya and that Russia release all mujahedeen prisoners they hold.

Update:

Iraqi: U.S. Bodies Showed Signs of Torture

I guess the Mujahideen Shura Council, feels that since Abu Musab al-Zarqawi died in a “barbaric way;” they should return the favor.

Myself, I am saddened when anyone dies.

But I guess it goes for the saying, “You live by the sword, you die by the sword.”
