New Israeli settlement outpost established on Palestinian lands

Oct 18, 2006

Al-Khalil - The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) have recently completed the establishment of ten new housing units east of Yatta village, south of the West Bank city of Al-Khalil, over 50 dunums of Palestinian lands confiscated three years ago.

Member of the committee set up to defend Palestinian lands against Israeli confiscation Abdul Hadi Hantash said that the lands were near to the settlement of Karma'il.

He added that large numbers of IOF troops were deployed in the vicinity to protect the construction work and to terrorize Palestinian inhabitants who mainly work in farming and rearing sheep.

The Palestinian land expert added that the owner of the lands had tabled numerous complaints to the Israeli police and higher court over confiscation of his land but to no avail.

Committee sources said that settlers from another nearby settlement called Sossia seized 150 dunums of Palestinian lands adjacent to that settlement and planted them with trees.
