Man from Plains: Tough Road New Book

"Israel's continued control and colonization of Palestinian land have been the primary obstacles to a comprehensive peace agreement in the Holy Land," Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said in his new book, titled "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid."
Future
There are difficult times ahead. But we have faced diffcult times before and we have prevailed. We have prevailed because we dared to dream great dreams, because we refused to be content with injustice and mediocrity, because we were willing to try.
Jimmy Carter May 1976

Guantanamo
Our government needs to close down Guantanamo and the two dozen secret detention facilities run by the United States as soon as possible to demonstrate clearly our nation's historic commitment to protect human rights.

and the point that Tolstoy makes is that the course of human events, even the greatest historical events, are controled and shaped not by the leaders of the nations but by the combined hopes and dreams and aspirations and courage and conviction of the ordinary people.

Review Note:
I am attempting to read Jimmy Carter’s book and so far it is slanted towards Israel with Christian Sunday school rhetoric, which I am sorry to say is gaping full of hole’s due to the lack what appears to be Carter’s historical knowledge of the Middle East.

It is shamefully full of lack of historical information unless it is attached to Christian-Judeo theology and Israeli Politics.
In addition, this book so far leaves the Palestinian’s and any other Middle Eastern country sitting on the tarmac waiting for take off.

While Mr. Carter is famous for his 1979 Peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, it is just a pale reminder to the horrific situation that is in Palestine today. As for Mr. Carter capitalizing that he did this peace accord is starting to sound with this book more like an over tired cliché.

If this book so far is any inclination of Mr. Carter as President, no wonder he did not make a second term because as far as I have seen he sounds like he has the Israeli backing like the current president just a little more flourish to his voice.

I am waiting to hear that Carter got some physical recognition from Israel as the current President has done?
Actually, I am saddened to say that I was one that had a high regard for Mr. Carter before starting this book thus far and has you can tell it is changing greatly.
