Hamas party begins to organize new cabinet for unity government

10 February 2007

PNN

Hamas will continue to hold the majority of ministerial positions in the national unity government. The party won the Palestinian Legislative Council elections on 25 January 2006 and is only stepping down from its position as it is a requirement to get the US-led blockade lifted.

A prominent Hamas member who chose to remain unnamed in the press spoke with PNN on Saturday, revealing that consultations to identity choices for specific ministries are underway. He said that the party has given itself two weeks to make the final decisions.

The source indicated that most likely the ministerial positions will be held by new faces as the unity government has a different set of challenges to face. He said that the possibilities are being studied closely. Prime Minister Ismail Haniya issued the required resignation of his government to President Mahmoud Abbas today.

There is, however, a possibility that some of the government officials will remain in their current positions. “It is all up for discussion.” The source declined to reveal specific names currently being circulated.

What value does "democracy" have if is accepted ONLY the moment it does suit the ideologuy of others? Isn't democracy .. democracy? This word has apparently become empty - nill and void, without meaning!
As Israel does not accept the outcome of the Unity Government negotiations, I am wildly speculating, the US won't agree either (don't they do EVERYTHING together?) so ... will Hamas still be bound to follow up with the requirements if, as consequence, the blockade would possibly not be lifted? I wonder ... it all sounds VEEEERY fishy to me!!

I love Munich,

The word Democracy ( "rule by the people"), is getting to sound like what suit’s the West, the Zionist and everyone else is suppose to only follow the dictates of those people, otherwise Totalitarianism.

As you said null and void is in actuality Democracy especially with the example of the treatment of the Hamas government shows.

I am getting to think true Democracy as it was originally established, as a political ideology is something of the past, like the Whig political party ( operated from 1832 to 1856) that at one time was in America.

A word to throw out but as far as having weight is like the bully saying to the child. give me your milk money and do, as I say, which doesn’t mean it is right.

As for the america/Israel agreeing with the idea of a Unity government, I am thinking this is because Hamas still will not kiss their bottom as to the exsistance of an Israeli State.
