The government of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will need an estimated $1.62 billion in aid per year to close its budget gap, the World Bank said.

A report to donors obtained by media on Tuesday showed that the local government was not earning enough to sustain its soaring wage bill, let alone fund development.

The World Bank said 94 per cent of the foreign aid needed by the Palestinian Authority would be used to cover salaries, utility bills and social payments.

"It's huge and we don't see how the Palestinian Authority can finance it," said one diplomat who monitors its funds.

Then you have some Palestinians still outraged over Abbas’s one meeting with Ehud Olmert, where Abbas kissed Olmert’s wife, Aliza.
Finally, an impromptu poll was done recently towards Abbas's popularity with the majority of Palestinian's polled, saying they honestly hated, Mahmoud Abbas and as far as they are concerned; he does not represent the Palestinian people in any manner.
What was astonishing to hear, was any Palestinian using the word 'hate' towards anyone or any thing.
