The Israeli army on Tuesday attacked a peaceful demonstration organized by the families of the political detainees to protest the recent events in the Negev detention facility.

The protest started out from the city center, near The Church of the Nativity, and moved towards the checkpoint that forms part of the illegal wall cutting through the city.

Soldiers showered the protest with tear gas and sound bombs, and several people were admitted to hospital for gas inhalation.

Later in the afternoon, Israeli soldiers provoked local school-children, chasing them down with jeeps.

Israeli jeeps also almost hit IMEMC's cameraman Ghassan Bannoura, in an attempt to prevent him from documenting events.

The Israeli invasion remains ongoing, with soldiers continuing to chase local stone-throwing youth.

No injuries have, so far, been reported.
