Chief Palestinian Negotiator on Prisoners' Affairs Resigns

25 February 2008

Bethlehem
Ma'an – The chief of the Palestinian committee for negotiations on prisoners' affairs, Qaddura Faris, submitted his letter of resignation to the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday.

Faris cited the lack of coordination between the committee, the head of the Palestinian negotiations team, Ahmad Qurai, and the chief negotiator of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Sa'eb Erekat, as a reason for his resignation.

Faris also said that he called for a meeting with President Abbas, the chief negotiators, and the Palestinian Legislative Council's negotiations committee two months ago, but the meeting was never held.
