Activists in Question of Anti-Semitism towards Hollywood Actress

Pro-Palestinian Activists protest Goldie Hawn appearance at JNF event

9 March 2008

Pro-Palestinian activists beating drums and blaring horns have protested a visit by Hollywood actress Goldie Hawn to an Israeli charity's fundraising dinner.

Around 150 demonstrators marched on Glasgow's Hilton hotel, where the actress was speaking to supporters of the Jewish National Fund.

The fund is Israel's main land distributor. But the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, which organized the protest, believes it is a racist organization and criticized Hawn for lending her support.

Israel's Supreme Court has ordered the JNF to change its policy of selling property only to Jews.

A Statement from HRM Deborah of Palestine and the Messenger of Peace

To begin with, I deeply apologize to Miss. Hawn that she had to be subjected to such harsh treatment by the activist that mistreated her so harshly.

No one should be subjected to this kind of treatment regardless of who they are in Palestine, this especially goes with those legitimately visiting our country.

In Palestine before the war, everyone lived in relative safety and this went towards all three religions, because everyone had respect for one another and I wish this very much again.

Now to anyone committing criminal activities, they will be dealt with as such and I do reaffirm that any foreign body that is creating criminal activity in Palestine, they will be treated in the appropriate manner. I do believe in very low crime and I do not abide at any time, of any racism towards visitors as well as citizens in Palestine.

I greatly welcome visitor’s and pilgrims that wish to come to Palestine and I would hope they know that everything is trying to be done so they may come to Palestine and have a safe as well as a happy experience.

Please, understand at this time Palestine is in a renewal phase that usually occurs after a war and since the previous war had went on so long. It may take a little time to make it secure as well as a pleasant place for not just visitor’s, but her citizens; while I do hope the time will not be long, only time will tell.

As a final note to Miss. Hawn, I have seen some of your movies and please know, I think you are a very good actress and I do hope this next time you visit, all will be good for you.
