WASHINGTON, D.C. One of the largest neo-Nazi groups in the United States rallied on the National Mall today to protest pro-immigration policies, but the march turned violent when protesters and counter protesters clashed.

Under the escort of U.S. Park Police, three members of the National Socialist Movement, a neo-Nazi group, are confronted by counter protesters carrying pepper spray.

Park Police and other law enforcement agencies quickly arrested three counter protesters on the national mall. Police had tried to separate the two groups before a march that was scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., but emotions were running high.

The NSM had come to Washington for a rally against illegal immigration. They said their voices had been drowned out in the debate.

"We want an end to this flow of illegal aliens coming across the Mexican border that no one is doing anything about, which is going to result more joblessness," NSM member K. Schneiger said.

"The issue of illegal immigration is not a movement of hatred, it is not about degrading other races or racism. It is basically a movement of love for our people and our country, " NSM member William Herring said.

The neo-Nazi group made its way to the Capitol with a heavy police presence and hundreds lined the streets to watch both groups in action.

The rally lasted about 30 minutes at the Capitol, and Park Police made a total of five arrests, all of them for assault against police officers.
