President praises bravery of soldiers in Khorramshahr liberation
25 May 2008Tehran-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday paid tribute to Iranian soldiers who engaged in hand-to-hand fight with the occupying forces to drive them out of Khorramshahr in 1982.
He said that resistance of Iranian nation has roots in their monotheism, justice-seeking and freedom-seeking spirit.
President made the remarks in a message addressed to the 11th nationwide festival marking resistance and liberation of Khorramshahr.
There is no doubt that the memories of the eight years of sacred defense would be invaluable examples of sacrifice, devotion and freedom-seeking of a pious and patriotic nation, he said.
Khorramshahr is now a symbol of resistance and pride, he said adding that numerous memories rest upon in the chest of the city which seeks the talented and committed artists to help revive it.
