Dick Cheney to speak at fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise

New Orleans-Vice President Dick Cheney will speak at a fundraiser today in New Orleans for U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise, R-Jefferson, of the 1st Congressional District.

Cheney's flies in to Louis Armstrong Airport at about 10:50 a.m. No further details are available on the event.

Scalise faces Democrat Jim Harlan of Lacombe in the Nov. 4 election. Harlan won more than 72 percent of the vote in Saturday's election against rival Democrat M.V. "Vinny" Mendoza.

After the speech, Cheney heads to the airport for a 1:30 p.m. stop in Baton Rouge, where he will stump for Congressional candidate Bill Cassidy, the Republican nominee for Congress in the 6th District.
