A Pilgrimage from Kashmir to Makkah
A man hugs a relative before leaving Srinagar in Indian-administered Kashmir for a pilgrimage to holy city of Makkah (Mecca), Saudi Arabia, on 30 October 2008. While this pilgrimage is a very important part of Islam, this photograph is a reminder of a past time when the distance was so vast for some, that they never saw there families or home again.
Which is similar to American history, when a wagon train left for the Western region and families where separated to be left behind; to never hear or see each other again.
