President underlines commitment to Islamic values

Tehran-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday that the government is seriously committed to revolutionary and Islamic values, stressing that opposing stands of others would not weaken the will of the authorities.

Addressing a group of clerics and Ulema of the northeastern province of North Khorassan, he said the clerics are shouldering heavy responsibility to turn the Islamic Republic to an appropriate Islamic pattern for all Muslim nations.

The Iranian president urged all people to take steps towards both spiritual and material progress of the country.

Referring to problems facing the people, he stressed that the government is trying to remove the existing obstacles in the way of the country's progress and development.

The president further called for materialization of justice throughout the country.

President Ahmadinejad, along with cabinet members arrived in the city of Bojnourd capital of the North Khorassan province Wednesday morning.

He made the initiative to visit different provinces since he took office in 2005 in order to bring closer the government to ordinary people.

The president is to arrive in the holy city of Mashhad this afternoon to pay a pilgrimage visit to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Imam of the infallible household of the Prophet of Islam.

He is also scheduled to inspect an industrial project in Binaloud industrial township as well as a gas power plant project and a car-manufacturing project in Khorassan Razavi province.
