President Bush guilty of crimes, too

President Bush decried the heinous crime of the terrorist bomber who killed 30 innocent civilians and wounded many more in Dahab, Egypt, on April 24.

President Bush has killed many thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens since March 2003 when he began bombing Iraq. To the families of Iraq who huddled in their homes defenseless and frightened, awaiting the terror, there was no difference in the messenger.

Iraqi citizens suffered through 30 years of brutal dictatorship under Saddam Hussein. He sent them into disastrous war against Iran for eight years. He sent them into war against Kuwait.

Iraqi citizens endured the first Gulf War and 10 more years of sanctions at U.S. insistence, that caused the death of thousands from disease and slow starvation. Their economy has been destroyed and they are so poor, few of them could leave for safety before Bush's war.

Iraq has the second largest oil reserve in the world. In 1917, Britain invaded Iraq and stayed for decades and stole its oil wealth. Now, America has invaded Iraq and is building huge, permanent bases from which to steal Iraqi oil. Britain in 1917 and Bush in 2003 said: "We come not as conquerors but as liberators."

I hope all the perpetrators of wanton killing, whether it is bombing resorts or illegally invading countries and killing its innocent citizens, will be brought to justice by international law. I wish it could be accomplished without the senseless killing of any more citizens or any more soldiers.
