An agreement has been reached to end the public sector strike and pay the salaries owed
Bethlehem - Ma'an – The Palestinian minister of planning, and acting treasurer, Dr Samir Abu 'Aisha, revealed on Friday that an agreement has been reached between the government and the union of public sector employees to end the strike which began on the 2nd September 2006.
Abu Aisha announced that the agreement will end the strike; and that the government has committed to paying the salaries owed and scheduled dates for payment.
The Palestinian president will witness the signing of the agreement with the deputy prime minister and minister of higher education, Dr Nasir Addin-Ash Sha'ir, in addition to Bassam Zakarna and Amjad Abu Ra'd representing the union of employees.
With regard to the salaries of the military men, Abu A'isha said that the majority of the money donated by the Arab League will be dedicated to military salaries and paid as soon as it is received.
