Olmert Questioned by Police

Ehud Olmert, the Israeli prime minister, is being questioned by police over his alleged role in the privatisation of the second-largest bank in Israel.

This comes amidst a steep rise in corruption scandals involving a number of high-ranking political officials in Israel.

So, why is Israel so plagued by corruption?

Is the judicial system in the country unable to curb this trend?
