The US, Israel Aid Package

As Condoleeza Rice tours the middle east, Ehud Barak is making his first visit to the US as Israel's Defence Minister. Barak discussed missile defence with his US counterpart Robert Gates on Tuesday.

As preparations are being made for the latest peace conference, some wonder how effective the US can be in its role as peace-broker, given its close military ties to Israel.

Al Jazeera's Kimberly Halkett reports.
