Israel says Barbara Streisand has pulled out of a celebration of the country's 60th anniversary next month.

Streisand was one of the big-name guests slated to appear at a festive Jerusalem convention hosted by President Shimon Peres beginning May 13. The American diva was supposed to perform a rendition of the Hebrew prayer Avinu Malkeinu, or Our Father Our King.

But Peres' office says Streisand has now announced she will not be coming. It says she gave no reason for the sudden cancellation.

The anniversary convention's guest list still includes heads of state like U.S. President George W. Bush and technology czars like Google founder Sergey Brin.

While I do not know Barbara Streisand’s reason for not coming, I also wish she would reconsider because apparently many people are saddened by her cancelling her appearance.
I would hope she would reconsider, she is such a beautiful singer and a wonderful actress, my personal favorite movie of hers is “Funny Girl,” where she plays Fannie Brice.
While there are many other movies, I have enjoyed of hers, if she did not come to Palestine, it would be like the silence of a beautiful Swan.
If it has something to do with U.S. President George W. Bush coming, because Mrs. Streisand is said to be a 'staunch Democrat,' then it is understandable.
Furthermore, Mrs. Streisand is very welcome to come to Palestine.
