157 Qassams and 25 Mortars Fired at Targets around the Gaza Strip

On June 27, 2006 Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades announced a general mobilization and a state of emergency in its ranks in response to the threats of the Zionist leadership to attack the Gaza Strip. These threats were issued to cover the colossal security and military failure of the occupation army in Operation Dispelled Illusion, in which Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades and 2 other resistance factions swept through an occupation army outpost near Karm Abu Salem to the east of Rafah. Three occupation soldiers were killed, 5 were injured, and one has been missing since then.

The occupation army started a wild, retaliatory attack on the Gaza Strip with the intent of punishing the civilian population for the operation, with the hope that internal pressure will be exerted on the resistance. The first targets of this aggression were none other than civilian infrastructure such as the electricity plant in the Strip, roads, bridges, and offices of the newly elected government. All these targets have Zero military significance, which shows the total failure of the occupation leadership of dealing with the situation.

Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades was fully prepared to resist the attack, and prove its futility. The mujahideen of the Brigades confronted the occupation army in every area where it launched attacks. Starting with Rafah and ending with Tuffah recently, the occupation army tasted unprecedented resistance activity in the Gaza Strip.

Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades resistance operations since the start of the occupation aggression have totaled 208 operations of various types. A total of 36 members and commanders in the Brigades were martyred during these operations.
