Settler children in Tel Rumeida (occupied Palestine)

Introduction

Following is four video’s showing undisciplined Settler children in Tel Rumeida terrorizing international peace volunteers workers to Palestinians.

While the IDF and Israeli police do nothing, settler parents teach their children to attack Palestinians and international peace volunteers with large rocks. The parents use them because they know the Israeli army and police won't arrest any Israeli 14 years old and younger.

In May 2005, a group of teenage settler girls attacked the students and teachers at Qurtaba School, blocking their way out of the school as a police officer filmed and soldiers watched. The settlers sing and chant in Hebrew, "There is no Palestine, this is Israel" and "there are no Palestinians." Settler boys in the street then blocked the stairs by stoning the students as they tried to come down the stairs. The students scream and run, but are blocked from every direction. The police and soldiers do not protect the students. Documentarian Terje Carlsson filmed this incident.

On September 3, 2005, the first day of school for the children in Hebron, settler children attacked a group of Palestinians and internationals near the Tel Rumeida settlement. Though the Israeli police and soldiers were on the scene, they did nothing to prevent injuries despite constant pleading for help from the internationals. The settler children also stoned the soldiers and police.

Human rights workers attempt to get a soldier to stop settler kids who are throwing stones at a Palestinian home while a settler adult watches. Every day on their way home from school, several Palestinian children walk on a path that runs directly below where the settler kids were stoning. On this day the Palestinian children are waiting for a soldier to move the barbed wire that permanently blocks their path home.

Human rights workers must argue with him to move the barbed wire even though the family won an Israeli High Court decision ruling that the family must be allowed to use this path to go home. The barbed wire permanently blocks their path home. The IDF places the barbed wire there in direct violation of the Israeli High Court decision.

Israeli Checkpoints Increase in West Bank: UN-OCHA

Mohammed Mar’i, Arab News

RAMALLAH, West Bank, 7 April 2007 — The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) yesterday reported that from March 28 to April 3, a total of 210 flying checkpoints were recorded in the occupied West Bank, mainly in the Jenin, Qalqilya, Bethlehem and Hebron governorates. This was up from 171 recorded flying checkpoints the week before.

In addition, OCHA noted that two Palestinians, including one child, were killed by the Israeli Army and a further 32 were injured in the West Bank during that week. The high number of Palestinian casualties was mainly due to Israeli military incursions and clashes during Palestinian demonstrations to mark “Land Day” on March 30.

OCHA also said in its statement that 333 Palestinian families (2,168 people) were displaced in the northern Gaza Strip following the sewage flooding in Umm Nasser village. OCHA said that these displaced Palestinians are currently being sheltered in a temporary UNRWA camp in north eastern Gaza. In total three homes were destroyed and a further 116 were damaged by the flood, OCHA reports.

OCHA adds that there were continued fears of further large scale flooding and outbreaks of communicable diseases. The organization also reported that the Israeli military authorities have imposed a weeklong general closure on the West Bank during the Jewish holiday of Passover. However, on the other hand, more than 8,000 Christians were issued with special permits to access Jerusalem for the Easter festivities, OCHA noted.

Happy Passover and Easter With a Cup Filled With Victims Blood

Office of the Press Secretary
April 7, 2007
THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. This week, people around the world celebrate Passover and Easter. These holy days remind us of the presence of a loving God who delivers His people from oppression, and offers a love more powerful than death. We take joy in spending this special time with family and friends, and we give thanks for the many blessings in our lives.
Palestine

One of our greatest blessings as Americans is that we have brave citizens who step forward to defend us. Every man or woman who wears our Nation's uniform is a volunteer, a patriot who has made the noble decision to serve a cause larger than self. This weekend, many of our service men and women are celebrating the holidays far from home. They are separated from their families by great distances, but they are always close in our thoughts. And this Passover and Easter, I ask you to keep them in your prayers.
American's in Iraq

Our men and women in uniform deserve the gratitude of every American. And from their elected leaders, they deserve something more: the funds, resources, and equipment they need to do their jobs.
Iraq

Sixty-one days have passed since I sent Congress an emergency war spending bill to provide the funds our troops urgently need. But instead of approving that vital funding, Democrats in Congress have spent the past 61 days working to pass legislation that would substitute the judgment of politicians in Washington for the judgment of our generals in the field.

In both the House and Senate, Democratic majorities have passed bills that would impose restrictions on our military commanders, set an arbitrary date for withdrawal from Iraq, and fund domestic spending that has nothing to do with the war. The Democrats who passed these bills know that I will veto either version if it reaches my desk, and they know my veto will be sustained. Yet they continue to pursue the legislation. And now the process is on hold for two weeks, until the full Congress returns to session.

I recognize that Democrats are trying to show their current opposition to the war in Iraq. They see the emergency war spending bill as a chance to make that statement. Yet for our men and women in uniform, this emergency war spending bill is not a political statement, it is a source of critical funding that has a direct impact on their daily lives.

Afghanistan
When Congress does not fund our troops on the front lines, our military is forced to make cuts in other areas to cover the shortfall. Military leaders have warned Congress about this problem.
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Pete Pace, recently testified that if Congress fails to pass a bill I can sign by mid-April, the Army will be forced to consider cutting back on training, equipment repair, and quality of life initiatives for our Guard and Reserve forces. In a letter to Congress, Army Chief of Staff Pete Schoomaker put it this way: "Without approval of the supplemental funds in April, we will be forced to take increasingly draconian measures which will impact Army readiness and impose hardships on our soldiers and their families."

If Congress fails to pass a bill I can sign by mid-May, the problems grow even more acute. The Army will be forced to consider slowing or even freezing funding for depots where pivotal equipment is repaired, delaying or curtailing the training of some active duty forces, and delaying the formation of new brigade combat teams. The bottom line is that Congress's failure to fund our troops will mean that some of our military families could wait longer for their loved ones to return from the front lines. And others could see their loved ones headed back to war sooner than they need to. That is unacceptable to me, and I believe it is unacceptable to the American people.

The full Congress will not be back from spring vacation until the week of April 16th. That means the soonest the House and Senate could get a bill to my desk will be sometime late this month, after the adverse consequences for our troops and their families have already begun. For our troops, the clock is ticking. If the Democrats continue to insist on making a political statement, they should send me their bill as soon as possible. I will veto it, and then Congress can go to work on a good bill that gives our troops the funds they need, without strings and without further delay.

We have our differences in Washington, D.C., but our troops should not be caught in the middle. All who serve in elected office have a solemn responsibility to provide for our men and women in uniform. We need to put partisan politics aside, and do our duty to those who defend us.

Thank you for listening.

END

Occupation of Al-Aqsa Mosque a disaster, Muslim cleric says

Sheikh Raed Salah says during Islamic Movement rally, ‘Arab world must declare state of emergency due to occupation of east Jerusalem holy site, just as any nation does during times of disaster’

April 7, 2007

The biggest disaster ever inflicted on the Muslim nation is the occupation of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque,” Sheikh Raed Salah, head of the Islamic Movement Northern Branch, said Friday.

Salah, who spoke during an Islamic Movement rally marking the birth of prophet Mohammad, said the entire Arab, Muslim and Palestinian world “must declare a state of emergency, just as any nation does during times of disaster.”

Israel’s policy and security forces will never hinder our ability to protect Al-Aqsa,” he added.

Salah is currently being investigated, as per an order by Attorney General Menachem Mazuz, under suspicion of inciting violence, racism, and rebellion.

The investigation began following Salah’s remarks during a protest held in Nazareth in February, as well as remarks made a week prior at the Temple Mount, regarding the
Mugrabi Gate dig near.

Kamal Hatib, vice-chairman of the Islamic Movement, said during the event that, “Humanity has reached a high level of advancement in science and technology, but it is collapsing under the burden of materialism and temptation.

“Humanity needs the Islamic nation to deal with these flaws and rescue it from the calamities these temptations bring about,” he said.

Some 25,000 people attended the rally, which was held at a soccer stadium in Kfar Qana.

During his weekly sermon at the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Friday, the former Palestinian mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Akrama Sabri, criticized recent attempts by Israeli right-wing activists to visit the Temple Mount.

“The processions and break-in attempts carried out by the Zionist settlers at Al-Aqsa will end badly,” the sheikh said.

Egyptian Mind

IT IS NOT A STORY BUT A TRUE INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED IN AMERICA.

An Egyptian man walks into a bank in New York City and asks for the loan officer. He tells the loan officer that he is going to Egypt on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000.

The bank officer tells him that the bank will need some form of security for the loan, so the Egyptian man hands over the keys to a new Ferrari parked on the street in front of the bank.He produces the title and everything checks out.The loan officer agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan.

The bank's president and its officers all enjoy a good laugh at theEgyptian for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral against a $5,000 loan.

An employee of the bank then drives the Ferrari into the bank'sunderground garage and parks it there.

Two weeks later, the Egyptian returns, repays the $5,000 and the interest, which comes to $15.41.

The loan officer says,"Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicel, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multi millionaire. What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow $5,000"

'"The Egyptian replies: "Where else in New York City can I park my precious car for two weeks for only $15.41 and expect it to be there when I return.'"

Huge Mortgage Lender Files for Bankruptcy

Washington Post Staff Writer
April 3, 2007

New Century Financial, a lender that came to symbolize the fast-and-loose mortgage practices of recent years, filed for bankruptcy protection yesterday and said it would lay off 3,200 employees, more than half its workforce.

The filing by the Irvine, Calif., company was widely expected, but it is nonetheless a milestone in the mortgage industry's ongoing contraction. While nearly 50 lenders have filed for bankruptcy protection or shut their doors
since the end of last year, none was as large or as respected by Wall Street as New Century.

These companies specialized in "subprime" loans, generally offered to people with blemished credit or insufficient cash for a down payment. Subprime mortgages, which accounted for $600 billion, or about 20 percent, of all new home loans last year, were the main reason millions of working-class Americans were able to buy homes they otherwise could not afford.

Many of these mortgages did not require down payments or had low teaser interest rates that leaped after the first two or three years. Delinquency rates on these mortgages have soared in recent months, prompting Wall Street to cut off funds for companies like New Century.

Analysts worry that the woes in the lending industry will spill over to the broader economy and dampen demand for homes. House prices are flat or declining in much of the country, and some economists fear the situation could get bad enough to tip the economy into recession.

"The fact that New Century is filing for bankruptcy is a real wake-up call," said James Croft, founder of the Mortgage Asset Research Institute in Reston. "It's one thing for smaller lenders to close their doors. But when the company the size of New Century declares bankruptcy, that indicates the level of severity in the current situation."

In months, New Century has gone from Wall Street favorite to financial pariah. Last year, New Century issued $51.6 billion worth of subprime mortgages, second in that market to
HSBC Holdings. Its stock has fallen 90 percent since February, after it revealed it had understated the amount of bad loans it had made. The company was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange last month and announced it would stop issuing new loans.

At least eight states have issued cease-and-desist orders forbidding New Century from operating there; the company said it expects more states to follow suit. New Century has said it was cooperating with a criminal investigation by the Justice Department.

In a statement yesterday, chief executive Brad A. Morrice said the bankruptcy filing was "a very hard step for me personally and clearly not the outcome I would have preferred. . . . I particularly regret the impact that the bankruptcy filing will have on our dedicated associates."

New Century said that current mortgage holders would be unaffected but that it would seek to spin off all of its loans to other lenders in coming months. The company announced yesterday that it had sold some mortgages, as well as an administrative division, for $189 million. It also received a $150 million loan from the CIT Group and Greenwich Capital Financial Products, pending court approval, to keep operating while it seeks to reorganize under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

The company faces massive liabilities. Its creditors, which include
Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse, provided billions of dollars in short-term funding that enabled New Century to make loans to home buyers.

In the past, New Century had been able to package its home loans into massive bonds, known as mortgage-backed securities, and sell them to investors, including some of the big investment banks. Such bonds were popular because they offered relatively high returns in an economic climate in which interest rates are low by historical standards.

Analysts say Wall Street's hunger for these securities drove New Century and other companies to push a high volume of risky loans with insufficient regard for people's ability to repay them.

Lenders like New Century "are selling what is ordered up by Wall Street," said Irv Ackelsberg, a Philadelphia lawyer who assists homeowners facing foreclosure and who testified on the issue to the Senate Banking Committee last month. "The real market demand is for these bond securities."
As the subprime mortgage market unraveled, however, the appetite for such bonds faded. New Century was left with no way to pay its creditors, who cut off funding last month.

While New Century's survival is in doubt, some of its creditors contend they would not take big hits from the bankruptcy filing. Morgan Stanley, for example, has said it would auction $2.5 billion worth of mortgages that it holds as collateral for short-term loans it made to New Century. The bank predicted the auction would cover most of the losses from its New Century deals.

The fall of New Century and other mortgage companies sparked a broad reassessment of lending practices. Many lenders have been tightening standards, requiring home buyers to provide more documentation of their income. Mortgage with no down payments are disappearing.

"It's clear that people at the margin of creditworthiness will have significantly more difficulty obtaining mortgage loans," said Croft of the Mortgage Asset Research Institute. "I think the industry has to take a lot of responsibility for the problems it is experiencing today."

Staff researcher Richard Drezen contributed to this report.

Amnesty: New Gitmo Facility Worst

Cell in Guantánamo's Camp 6

WASHINGTON, 5 April 2007 — Amnesty International said yesterday that a new facility at Guantanamo Bay held prisoners in even harsher conditions than the rest of the detention center and called for the camp to be shut down.

The rights watchdog described the camp as “one of the worst blemishes on the United States’ human rights record,” and said that keeping terrorist suspects in such “cruel” conditions undermined the country’s moral authority.

“Guantanamo Bay is the festering symbol of the Bush administration’s continued contempt for international law and disregard for human rights,” said Larry Cox, the executive director of Amnesty International USA.

The report, entitled “USA: Cruel and Inhuman — Conditions of Isolation for Detainees in Guantanamo Bay,” said conditions at the US Navy-run camp on the southeastern coast of Cuba were deteriorating.

“A new facility that opened in December 2006, known as Camp Six, has created even harsher and apparently more permanent conditions of extreme isolation and sensory deprivation,” Amnesty said.

Cox accused the administration of US President George W. Bush of using the cloak of national security to justify human rights violations.

“Perhaps President Bush needs to think again, because the voices calling for the closure of this disgrace to American values are only getting louder,” he said.

The report said that Guantanamo detainees were reportedly confined to windowless cells for 22 hours a day, only allowed to exercise at night and could go for days at a time without seeing daylight.

It said that it appeared that around 80 percent of the roughly 385 prisoners held at Guantanamo were in isolation cells.

“While the United States has an obligation to protect its citizens... that does not relieve the United States from its responsibilities to comply with human rights,” the report said.

“Statements by the Bush administration that these men are ‘enemy combatants,’ ‘terrorists’ or ‘very bad people’ do not justify the complete lack of due process rights,” the rights group added.

Amnesty reiterated its call for Guantanamo to be shut down and for inmates — many of whom are suspected Taleban and Al-Qaeda fighters detained in Afghanistan — either to be released or charged and sent to trial.

A Woman's Dua

A Muslim Woman's prayer of thanks to her creator and Lord- based upon a Poem written by Mujtahid2006.

Video edited and produced by Neocarvi.

Poem illustrates the position of a woman in Islam, her Status and importance as a symbol of God's gift of Sacred life.

Glory be unto You that made kindness to me a worship for men.

Glorified is the created but glorious is the creator.

You have ordained for me crowns of cloth and silk that men may recognise my majesty.

I am enthroned upon their shoulders by your command.

They shall enter my presence in humility.

Provision is my tribute from them.

Respect is my due.

With life and blood do they guard me.

I am a protected treasure, of shrouded light, safe from those who would plunder me with their gaze.

You have made me a cradle of life, honoured and sacred.

Why should I be bound in shackles of forged whim and social expectation.

When being true to who I am You have promised me Your Face.

You have given me my rights in a world that would usurp them.

Though voices of men are louder and heavier.

Praise be unto You that have given unto our speech an equal weighting.

Exulted am I above men, that I possess honour beyond need of earning.

For Nobility is my birthright.

By their deeds, I shall recognise the virtuous amongst men.

By their faults, I shall see their humanity.

For those judged worthy and noble- shall I burden them with a sweet taste.A mercy and love ordained; shall be our exchange.

A worship of You manifest.A sweet fruit; tasted but never touched, consumed but never eaten.

Tasted by the senses and consumed by the heart.I am a taste of paradise incarnate.

A reminder of divine mercy.

Precious life shall be our gift. Thus, glorified shall we be anew.

By those seeking shade underneath my feet.By those who would call me mother.

When I say…I am a Muslim

When I say…I am a Muslim,
I'm not shouting: "Down with Christians and Jews"
I am whispering: "I seek peace"
And Islam is the path that I choose.

When I say… I am a Muslim,
I speak of this with pride.
And confess that sometimes I stumble,
And need Allah to be my guide.

When I say…I am a Muslim,
I know this makes me strong.
And in those times when I am weak,
I pray to Allah for strength to carry on.

When I say. . . I am a Muslim,
I'm not boasting of success.
I'm acknowledging that Allah has rescued me,
And I cannot ever repay the debt.

When I say…I am a Muslim,
I'm not claiming to be perfect.
My flaws are indeed visible,
But Allah forgives because his followers are worth it.

When I say…I am a Muslim,
It does not mean I will never feel pain.
I still have my share of heartaches,
Which is why I invoke Allah's name.

When I say…I am a Muslim,
I do not wish to judge.
I have no such authority
My duty is to submit to Allah's all-encompassing love.

Islamic pride all the way!

MEET YOU AS A STRANGER
TOOK YOU AS A FRIEND.
I HOPE WE MEET IN PARADISE WHERE FRIENDSHIP NEVER ENDS!

Support Palestine

Palestinians receive supplies donated by the European Union and distributed by world food Programe (WFP) in the West Bank city of Hebron, July 9, 2006. (MaanImages/Mamoun Wazwaz)
Support Palestine - Contact all 27 foreign ministers of the European Union and ask them why their country and government supports the embargo against Palestine?

Information about the Embargo can be found at Electronic Intifada:

The European Union is once more supporting the Embargo against Palestine, with economic pressure and starvation being used as a political weapon against the democratically elected Hamas government. Because Israel, America and the European Union don't like the Hamas government they are using a medieval-style siege to collectively punish the Palestinian people. This is a crime against democracy and humanity.

According to the ECONOMIST (March 24th 2007), 50% of all families within Gaza and the West Bank are living below the poverty line. Because of the Embargo foreign countries have suspended budget support and development aid, and Israel is withholding $800m of tax revenues and customs which belongs to the Palestinian Authority. There has also been a drastic increase in checkpoints and other closures in the West Bank and a clampdown on the flow of goods in and out of Gaza.

Services such as health and education are deteriorating sharply because of supply shortages and strikes by workers. Hospitals can only now deal with emergencies. Banks within Palestine have frozen credit to the Palestinian Authority, and foreign banks are too fearful of providing loans incase they get prosecuted for sending money to the Palestinian Authority. The economy is shrinking rapidly.

If you feel strongly enough about this issue please contact all Foreign ministers of the 27 members of the European Unions starting with Austria and ending with the United Kingdom.

Use you own words, questions, ideas and suggestions, but here are a few sample points that might give a few ideas.

(1) Why does your country support a embargo against Palestine, which is punishing the ordinary people of Palestine?

(2) Does the people of your country realise that because of the embargo one-third of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza are food insecure, according to the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)? And about 34 percent of Palestinians can't afford a balanced meal? (March 2007)

(3) Why is your country selective in regards to promoting democracy, especially since you are opposed to the democratically elected government of Palestine?

(4) Is this embargo therefor anti-democratic?

(5) There are sections of the Israel political and military establishment which do not recognize Palestine. Why do you punsh the people of Palestine but continue to enjoy trading relations with Israel?

(6) The European Union claims to be a post-modern institution, so why does it support medieval tactics against the democratically elected goverment of Palestine?

1967 Mass Murder of Unarmed Egyptians by Israeli’s

The Israeli attack on the USS Liberty occurred during the Six-Day War in 1967 between Israel, Egypt and other Arab nations. Israeli war crimes for this attack caused 205 casualties, including 34 killed.

Introduction

A part from the Israeli film which shows the execution of Egyptian prisoners of war, some of those were civilans and workers but Israel didn't differntiate. All were killed with cold blood.

This film was broadcasted in the Egyptian talkshow (10 O'Clock العاشرة مساءاً) presented by Mona Al-Shazli who narrates in Arabic what the Israeli War Generals said in the film about their attrocities.

Note:

Ten minute video is in Arabic but includes clips from the Israeli documentary at around 2:00 and again at around 7:30.

Unfortunately, there are no subtitles for either the Arabic portion or the part in Hebrew. But, the pictures say a thousand words.

Israelis are cold-blooded murderers and they must be held accountable.

The true story ZIONISM: THE REAL ENEMY OF THE JEWS tells is thrilling, chilling and ultimately inspirational; but this epic, two-volume work is much more than a good read - a "page-turner" according to Jewish, Gentile and Arab/Moslem test readers. It is written in plain, everyday language to assist concerned and caring citizens everywhere, of all faiths and none, to understand how, really, the Palestine problem was created and became the cancer at the heart of international affairs; why a political solution has remained beyond the reach of diplomacy; and why, as a consequence, unending conflict in the Middle East is producing more and more deadly global fallout - 9/11 in America, terrorist bombs in Madrid and London and so on.

About the Video:

Manchester, England. 2nd November 2006. Alan Hart speaks at a public meeting of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC). He speaks about his two volume book “Zionism: The Real Enemy of the Jews”.

The original venue, St Peter’s Chaplaincy, informed PSC that it was unwilling to host the meeting–2 days before the event–despite the fact that the booking had been paid for many weeks in advance. Anticipating this, the PSC booked a reserve venue–the Friends Meeting House.

This is the first of four 10 minute clips of Hart’s opening presentation.

Alan Hart, a young 63, has been engaged with events in the Middle East and their global consequences and terrifying implications - the possibility of a Clash of Civilisations, Judeo-Christian v Islamic, and, along the way, another great turning against the Jews - for nearly 40 years: * As a correspondent for ITN’s News At Ten and the BBC’s Panorama programme (covering wars and conflicts wherever they were taking place in the world). * As a researcher and author. (His first book Arafat, Terrorist or Peacemaker? was published by Sidgwick & Jackson in 1984 and subsequently in several updated editions over a decade). * As a participant at leadership level, working to a Security Council background briefing, in the covert diplomacy of the search for peace.

Alan Hart thus brings to the pages of his latest book, Zionism: The Real Enemy of the Jews, and to the debating chamber, a deep understanding of why, really, the Countdown to Armageddon is on and how it can be stopped.

He’s been to war with the Israelis and the Arabs but the learning experience he values most, and which he believes gave him rare insight, came from his one-to-one private conversations over the years with many leaders on both sides of the conflict. With, for example, Golda Meir, Mother Israel, and Yasser Arafat, Father Palestine.

The significance of these private conversations was that they enabled Alan to be aware of the truth of what leaders really believed and feared as opposed to what they said in public for propaganda and myth-sustaining purposes.

It was because of his special relationships with leaders on both sides that, in 1980, Alan found himself sucked into the covert diplomacy of conflict resolution. President Carter had been prevented by Prime Minister Begin from involving the PLO in the peace process, an opening made possible because Arafat had signalled, secretly and seriously, that he was ready to make peace with an Israel inside more or less its pre-1967 borders. Carter was in despair and said, in private, that events had once again proved that it was impossible to advance the peace process by institutional diplomacy (because of the pork-barrel nature of American politics and the Zionist lobby’s awesome influence). It was then suggested to AH that he should undertake an unofficial, covert diplomatic mission to get an exploratory dialogue going between Arafat and Peres, with AH initially the linkman.

The assumption at the time was that Peres would win Israel’s next election and deny Begin a second term…. The initiative was funded by a small number of wealthy British Jews led by Marcus Sieff (the Chairman of Marks and Spencer) with the approval of Lord Victor Rothschild…. It happened and enough progress was made to get Peres and Arafat into public dialogue in the event of Peres winning the 1981 election. Unfortunately, and against all expectations, he did not. (Full story of this initiative in Chapter 35 - The Blood Oath).

In the course of this mission AH learned two things. The first was the truth about the miracle of Arafat’s leadership - his success in persuading his side (most of it) to be ready for unthinkable compromise with Israel for peace. (Which was why Alan wrote his first book). The second was why it is difficult to impossible for any Israeli prime minister, even a rational, well-motivated one, to make peace on any terms the Palestinians can accept.

A decade later, Alan’s initiative became the Oslo process, which might have delivered peace if Prime Minister Rabin had not been assassinated by a gut-Zionist.

Alan has long believed that what peacemaking needs above all else is some TRUTH-TELLING, about many things but, especially, the difference between Zionist mythology and real history, and, the difference between Jews and Judaism on the one hand and Zionists and Zionism on the other. (The Zionism of the title and substance of Alan’s latest book is, of course, political Zionism or Jewish nationalism as the creating and sustaining force of the Zionist state, not what could be called the spiritual Zionism of Judaism).
