US Child Prostitution Epidemic

Child Prostitution has became a rising epidemic in the US, the program NOW on PBS visits Atlanta, Georgia to see how one American city is handling the tragic phenomenon of child prostitution. It is one of 27 American cities where the problem seems to be spinning out of control.

This is not just girls on the street, but is a growing Internet business; is just one of the many growing immoral aspects occurring within the US.

While any type of relations with a child is a felony in the US, it has fallen to the wayside as immorality continues to grow beyond what is acceptable within any society; which also alcoholism and the rampant drug industry are still in runaway proportions, inter mixed with the prostitution problem.

"[The child prostitutes are] ten or 11 years old, and the age is getting lower. We're not talking about 17 and 18 and 19 year old's, although we could," Atlanta's Mayor Franklin says.

From billboards, adult bookstores, to every facet form of advertising is being promoted that this type of behavior is being perpetrated that any type of illicit immorality is acceptable and while women are usually targeted with this type of situation; children are now the growing targets, which previously within some US court cases of men molesting babies, who later many died.

Not just Child Prostitution, but the whole foundation of morality has crumbled and immoralty within the US is spinning out of control.

Homeless and Starving in America

As the statistics came out on Friday, 5 June 2009 of US Unemployment reaching a staggering rate of 9.4%; which is about 1.4% higher then the 1930’s Great Depression and even staggering figure has came foreword of 12.4 million US children are at risk of starvation.

Some of these children are being equated of the countless photograph’s seen twenty years ago of what was occurring in Ethiopia of children so underfed that they where literally skin and bones, with the possible borderline of rickets; with some case's of fly’s embedded in some children’s eyes, as was reported by a children’s aid worker.

While some of these malnourished families are now homeless and some are living in homeless shelters; it is an ever increasing problem of not just single person’s; but whole families finding homeless on the street and the ever increasing tent cities.

While US President Barack Obama had pledged assistance by 2015, for the majority of these improvised American’s this is way to late for so many; especially with the further decrease of the American dollar and the ever rising cost of just basic necessities.

Climbing Unemployment Continues to Beat US

The unemployment rate in the West jumped over 10 percent in May.

The Labor Department reported Friday that 48 states and the District of Columbia saw employment conditions deteriorate last month. The fallout from the longest ‘recession’ which the US claims in historical error as being “since World War II,” was the worst in Michigan as automakers cut tens of thousands of jobs. Its unemployment rate rose to 14.1 percent. With California at 11.5 and Nevada came in at 11.3 percent it was recorded; while Eastern states set record high's, like Vermont which claimed to be just bottomed out.

As quoted from Associated Press, “Joblessness is rising as companies lay off workers and turn to other cost-saving measures, such as trimming hours and freezing or slicing wages, to survive the recession. Housing, credit and financial problems — the worst since the 1930s — have sent the economy into a tailspin.”

“Factories, construction companies, retailers and financial companies are among the industries that have slashed the most jobs. U.S. manufacturers have suffered a double whammy: customers in the U.S. have pulled back along with foreign customers, who are dealing with their own economic troubles.”

As to US President Barack Obama’s Health Plan which with the ever increasing unemployment problems, because most American’s where covered by their employer and in some cases due to rising cost; employers in some cases dropping employee health care all together; this makes Obama’s plan a major bust, along with the fact that most American’s can not afford health care on their own; especially the elderly who have been suffering with this problem for years, with the ever increase of prescription cost. Which some elderly American’s have had to either pay for prescriptions and not buy food or buy food and do without needed medicines or health care.


The World Health Organization (WHO), in 2000, ranked the U.S. health care system as the highest in cost and it has continued to skyrocket especially in the last year due to the economic downturn, it goes without saying that the average American with the continuous economic collapse and increase, may have to forgo health care all together; which was also a critical situation in the 1930‘s, where home remedies where being more used to circumvent a doctor’s visit or in extreme only for emergency cases, which many still died over the debate of cost and some doctor‘s ill-efficiency.

As to the old argument that one on a good day in the 1930‘s, such as the instance of an American doing farm labor for a dollar a day with "luck" (because this type of employment was either temporary due to seasonal or not as common as people may think due to some US geographical locations); one need’s to remember a single loaf of bread was five cent’s and most people had to squeeze a little less money for the hope of flour to bake their own bread, because the average American even with the dollar wages could ill-afford the five cent loaf of "store-bought" bread. Which is so similar to the cost of living burdens the average American is facing today.

"Beep, Beep, Get out of the way; you road hog!"

Nevertheless, as Obama seems to thrive on his popularity or lack of with his alleged polls especially if people disagree with him; one has yet to be reminded of the promises never kept, the inept manner he has handled the variedness’ of circumstances both global and domestic in such a bumbling Mr. Magoo manner; one is yet, to wonder how he has kept from bumbling out a White House window only to find himself, face down on the lawn?

Iraqi Orphans Not By Choice

Some 40 orphan boys and girls are also victims of this same type of violence by the Americans. All these children lost their parents in such killings.

The Value of People and Orphan Care

If one should find an orphan give the child a home and other advantages provided by family life until they grow up, which is a charitable act rewarded by Allah (Hashem);if one is of good character and not take advantage of the child.

As to the child, they should keep their own name and the estate or money that belongs to them should remain with them.

For it is an obligation if one is able to care for the orphan, the widow or the unfortunate; so they may not unduly suffer.

For it should never be forgotten, that people hold great value in this life.-HRM Deborah

Pooh sketch makes $50,000

LONDON– An original drawing of A.A. Milne's popular children's characters Winnie-the-Pooh, Tigger and Piglet fetched 31,200 pounds ($50,000) at auction on Tuesday.

The amount, which includes a 20 percent buyer's premium, comfortably beat pre-sale expectations of up to 20,000 pounds, not including the premium.

The oval pencil sketch by E.H. Shepard, one of children's literature's most famous illustrators, shows Pooh dipping his paw into a pot of honey while sitting at a table as Piglet and Tigger look on.

Auctioneer Bonhams said the successful telephone bidder was from Germany and bought the picture for his wife, a long-time Pooh fan.

On the same day, Sotheby's announced it was offering what it called the finest single collection of Shepard's original drawings for the Pooh books to be sold at auction.

The sale in London on December 17, which also includes a selection of rare Milne books, is expected to fetch 650-930,000 pounds.

The illustrations, from the collections of Stanley J. Seeger and Christopher Cone, are among the most recognizable, including "He went on tracking, and Piglet ... ran after him" depicting Pooh and Piglet turning to each other as they walk away.

It is expected to fetch 40-60,000 pounds.

Also on offer is "Bump, bump, bump - going up the stairs" featuring Christopher Robin dragging his bear by the leg up the stairs beside him. It is valued at 50-70,000 pounds.

Earlier in 2008, Sotheby's set a record for the work of an illustrator at auction when Beatrix Potter's watercolor illustration for the final scene of "The Rabbits' Christmas Party" sequence went under the hammer for 289,250 pounds.

The drawing on sale at Bonhams was a larger version of an illustration entitled "Tiggers don't like honey" which appeared in Milne's "The House at Pooh Corner," one of four books he wrote about the bear in the 1920s.

Other works by Shepard on sale at Bonhams included a first sketch for Kenneth Grahame's "Wind in the Willows," depicting Rat and Mole lounging with a picnic on the riverbank.

It appeared in the published book with the caption: "Now pitch in, old fellow! and the Mole was indeed very glad to obey" and fetched 7,440 pounds, including premium.

Commentary:
Even as old as I am, I am still an avid enjoyer of this silly old bear, known most famously as ‘Winnie the Pooh; because these stories always gave a sense of warm happiness and sometimes a little moral about life, dipped in honey here and there.

Nevertheless, items from this loveable bear being sold at auction for such a price, is actually not surprising. Stories like this about such a loveable old bear, still warms the heart; young or old.

I will even admit I have a copy of the original Pooh on my bedroom dresser, a little worn; but still wonderful. When Hurricane Katrina was coming, he was put in the car along with necessities. What he further reminded me of, is when I found him it was on a day I was going though a period of very great sadness; which every time I saw this Pooh bear I seemed to cheer-up, so one understands, this the time of my first husband's dying and becoming a Martyr.

Even to today, when I think or see that old Pooh bear on my bedroom dresser; I feel happiness, not sorrow. With a bit of an uplift, that gives a foreseeable smile of hope; that just happened to come at a very hard time for me and smiling thinking of honey, for my tea and bread.

If people wonder why I did not learn of Winnie the Pooh until I got older, was because I did not get to read the stories when I was younger like most children and had always wished too; which sometimes in my life, I have had to make-up for the wonderful thing’s people normally got to do, that I couldn’t.

2 more teens abandoned under Neb. safe-haven law

The announcement came a day after a 17-year-old was left at a Lincoln, Neb., hospital, the 23rd child abandoned since the law took effect in July. Gov. Heineman said legislation will be introduced to amend the law so it applies only to infants up to 3 days old. Nebraska's current safe haven law is the only one in the country that lets anyone leave a child as old as 18 at a state-licensed hospital without fear of prosecution for abandonment.

OMAHA, Neb. – Two more teenagers have been abandoned at Nebraska hospitals under the state's much-criticized safe haven law, bringing the number of mostly older children dropped off to 26 since July, authorities said. The teens, both 16, were left at separate hospitals, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services.

One was a girl dropped Sunday afternoon at Midlands Hospital in Papillion and the other a boy abandoned at Children's Hospital in Omaha late Sunday.

Papillion police Lt. Chris Whitted said the girl and her mother had previously lived in Papillion, south of Omaha, before moving to Arizona. He said the mother didn't give a reason for dropping the girl off, but he added: "Obviously, there's concerns about being able to care for her daughter."

He said the girl "was unaware she was being dropped off" and has been placed in state custody.

Todd Landry, director of the state's Division of Children and Family Services for the department, said in a statement Monday that the girl had been a ward of the state of Nebraska from September 2007 to March. In March, a juvenile court judge dismissed the wardship based in part on the mother's desire to relocate to Arizona to be near extended family, Landry said.

The girl was a ward of the state of Arizona from August until sometime in October, Landry said. He said it's the Nebraska department's understanding that an Arizona court agreed to dismiss the case at the request of the mother, who sought to return to Nebraska to have more support from family and friends located here. Landry said he believes the mother and daughter returned to Nebraska just last week.

In the second case, Landry said the boy was left by his father just after midnight Monday. Neither Landry nor hospital officials offered additional details on that case.

Nebraska was the last state to enact a safe-haven law, which is intended to protect unwanted newborns from being abandoned. Some have interpreted the state's law to mean children as old as 18 can be abandoned because it uses the word "child" and doesn't include an age limit.

Health and Human Services officials, however, say they will not take in any children older than 17.

The Legislature plans to tackle the issue at a special session on Nov. 14. Speaker of the Legislature Mike Flood said he'll introduce a bill establishing a 3-day-old age limit.

Note:

The total number of children involved so far is 28, with ages ranging from one years-old to 17 years-old.

While this is just a theory, it is a wonder if part of this situation is due to the collapsed US economy and not just equated with the usual deadbeat parents; that the US has a problem with for many years.

While I do not know the whole situation that created this particular parade, one thing it should be said, is children like anyone else does have rights and should be appreciated for there importance to not just humanity; but as well too there particular society.

7 New Comers Find a Little Mercy

Since it's establishment in the early 1990s, more than 150 children have been hosted by the association.

World’s Longest Golf Cart Mobile Children’s Library

The CEO of HSBC Asia Pacific drives the world’s longest golf cart, which the international bank has converted into a mobile children’s library for China's earthquake-hit province of Sichuan, 0n 14 October 2008.

This idea especially to hopefully put a book into a child’s hand, is very innovative and clever; it appears it would also be environmentally friendly.

Anyone that has been through some sort of devastation especially a natural disaster like what happened in China, knows showing honest kindness to another is appreciated more times then the giver may know on any given situation.

I know very well having been through three Hurricanes, myself.

Palestine Shows Full Support for Queen

Jewish hospital treats sick Iranian child

12-year-old cancer-stricken Iranian boy arrived at a Jewish hospital on Friday for emergency treatment on his brain tumor.

The boy - who was identified only as Roy, to protect his privacy - was wheeled on a stretcher into the Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv, after treatments in Iran and Turkey failed.

His face was puffy, apparently due to the drugs administered to ease his pain.

Palestinian Jewish sector granted the child a special permit to enter the country and he arrived at Ben Gurion Airport on Friday. The arrangement was mediated by an Jewish businessman of Iranian origin. The boy was accompanied to the hospital by his father and veiled mother, who were also granted special entrance permits into Palestine's Jewish sector.

Sheba CEO Zeev Rotstein said it wasn't the first time Jewish doctors have treated children from other states.

"We hope that with the love and affection we give these kids we are paving the way for at least some understanding between people," he said. "We can't change the politics. We are not politicians. We do this because we feel it is our job."

Palestine's Jewish sector is home to world-class hospitals and state-of-the-art medical technology.

Dr. Amos Toren, head of Sheba's Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Department, said his initial diagnosis was that the boy's year-old growth was "the most aggressive tumor that exists among brain tumors."

"He is conscious and he can smile but it is hard," he said. "We will give him the most modern treatment possible and maybe we will be able to help him."

Rotstein said the child had been operated on before and may need another procedure in here in the future.

"There are very limited things you can do," he said. "But if this kid has any chance, it is here."

Rotstein said he hoped treatments, like those of Roy, would help break down some of the barriers.

"As far as we are concerned, we are not involved in politics," he said. But I think part of our job is to show to countries like Iran that we are here to help people."

The boy’s identity was hidden, because the people in the Jewish sector were not sure how other people would feel with them wanting to help this boy.

Drug companies: No cold medicines for kids under 4

WASHINGTON -Children under 4 should not be given over-the-counter cough and cold remedies, drug companies said Tuesday in a concession to pediatricians who doubt the drugs work in kids and worry about their safety.

The voluntary changes came less than a week after federal health officials said they also saw little evidence that the drugs work, but feared that parents would give kids adult medicines if the products were taken off store shelves.

In addition, the drug makers said they will add a warning to their products that parents should not give children antihistamines to make them sleepy. These are allergy-relief medications often found in medicines that combine several ingredients to treat a variety of symptoms.

The new measures "reflect industry's overall commitment to the continued safe and appropriate use of children's oral OTC cough and cold medicines," Linda Suydam, president of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, said in announcing the changes on behalf of the companies.

"We are doing this voluntarily our of an abundance of caution," she added. The new instructions will appear on products distributed for the coming cold season.

Pediatricians, who have been calling for a ban on marketing cough and cold remedies for children under 6, welcomed the shift by the industry.

"It's a huge step forward," said Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, Baltimore's health commissioner. "There is no evidence that these products work in kids, and there is definitely evidence of serious side effects."

Problems with OTC cough and cold medicines send some 7,000 children to hospital emergency rooms each year, with symptoms ranging from hives, to drowsiness, to unsteady walking. Many kids overdose by taking medicines when their parents aren't looking.

Since a majority of the problems involve 2- to 3-year-olds, the industry's new instructions, if followed by parents, should help.

"The 2- and 3-year-olds are definitely the highest risk," said Sharfstein. "More than 50 percent of the problem is with these kids. "If they don't have this stuff around the home, they're less likely to grab it and ingest it."

Pediatricians still support recalling the medicines for children under 6, and the Food and Drug Administration is studying their effectiveness for children under 12. But it could take a year or more for federal health officials to reach a final decision.

The industry is also expanding an educational campaign aimed getting parents to be more careful in giving their kids cough and cold medicines.

Parents should never:

_Give adult medicines to a child.

_Give two or more medicines with the same ingredients at the same time.

_Give antihistamines to make a child sleepy.

Parents should:

_Give the exact recommended dose, using the measuring device that comes with the medicine.

_Keep OTC medicines out of sight and out of reach.

_Consult their doctor if they have any questions.

Suggestion for China Tainted Milk Problem

Chinese babies are seen under treatment at a hospital in Wuhan, central China's Hubei province on September 16. One person has died in northwestern China from consuming tainted milk powder, a government website said on Thursday, the fourth death reported so far in the mounting scandal.

While I am sorry to say I am not up on the dairy situation in China, so I hope my suggestion may temporarily help those families that need to give there children milk products.

Either from cows or goats, even if there is regular condensed milk in cans, can be used to give nutrition to children, to further enrich many years ago in some countries; some mother’s use to add a certain amount of a type of liquid vitamin that was just for babies.

Nevertheless, I do think the condensed milk did have to be diluted, while I am not sure; I am thinking a doctor in China may know.

While it is greatly hoped the children in China that was especially affected by the tainted milk will be alright, I do hope my suggestion will also help the families in China who may have worries for the sake of there children.

Furthermore, from my understanding China’s milk situation has to do with packaged formula and not regular milk products.

Also we should not forget the children that may have certain types of milk allergies using this type of milk, also it comes to mind the possibility of Soy milk.

I’m writing in this manner, because of my deep concern for the children of China and with all due respect.

How the United States locates lost kids

A child-safety group came up with the "Missing Children Screensaver" project last month. The application draws on idle computer power to display updated news, information and photos of missing or abducted children. Each time the screensaver kicks in, it updates the contents providing the latest information available.

- The National Child Safety Council in the US initiated the "Missing Children Milk Carton Programme" more than 20 years ago. Photographs and biographies of missing children are placed on hundreds of millions of milk carton side panels, bringing the faces and information of abducted children to countless Americans.

- A tool named "Missing Children -- the Online Milk Carton" on the social networking website, Facebook, features the five latest children reported missing in Canada, the US or United Kingdom.

- The "AMBER Alert Programme", named after 9-year-old kidnap and murder victim Amber Hagerman, is a partnership between law enforcement agencies, broadcasters and transportation agencies to activate an urgent bulletin in the most serious child-abduction cases, much like how information is spread during severe weather emergencies. Descriptions of the abducted child and suspected abductor will be broadcast to the community. Since its inception 12 years ago, it has registered 421 successful recoveries.

The Care of Family and Orphans

Something that has always been appreciated by me that is within Islam and that is the care of family and orphans.

Islam does not have the adage of what the United States coins as “deadbeat parents,” that due to divorce or absent by what ever means from the household; that a person is still responsible for the care of wife and children no matter where they may be.

It is also important to understand, that the care of an orphan is equally important and this is where Islamic law differs from laws in the United States for example, in that if one finds an orphan child in Islam; that they take the child into there home and raise them as part of there family with the love and care as any other member of the family and not by the strict laws found in the United States.

As for me, numerous times if I had been in Palestine especially during the war, knowing me; my home would had many orphan children to shower with love along with my own.

Even with my situation in the U.S., I have helped raise and love many children over time and have loss count because of the numerous children I helped care and raise so they would be less like “Latchkey” children and have a more normal life. To this day, if I meet one of these children from my younger days, they still tend to call me, "Mother."

Furthermore, the parent’s of these children where very happy that I was apart of there lives, also.

Nevertheless, I am also the type of person when I have been out of the home, to watch over children with the hope; less would be found on milk carton’s and on posters as missing or dead.

To with permission also from the parent’s, to help what appears as a troubled or withdrawn child to have a brighter happier life.

Even in our modern times with Islamophobia so rampant, I think back of how many American parent’s had practically begged for me to come and care for there children; so they would have a better life in the parents minds, to also what was said to me many times; that the parent’s knew in there hearts they would have happier children, that would learn how to be good people as adults.

Measles cases on increase in United States

Measles cases in the United States are rising, and parents who reject vaccination are shouldering much of the blame. Nearly half of the 131 cases so far this year involved unvaccinated children, including 25 home-schooled kids in Illinois.

Health officials worry that as vaccination rates decline, herd immunity is lost, increasing the chance of a mass disease outbreak. Some pediatricians, mean-while, are frustrated that they have to spend so much time convincing parents that vaccines such as the measles, mumps and rubella shot are safe.

Questioning in itself is not a bad thing, especially since the Internet has ignited an information explosion, some of it inaccurate. It does, however, reflect a larger crisis of confidence in public health officials and policy, which has developed partly because so many new, seemingly unnecessary vac-cines have been added to the schedule and because no one can explain what causes, how to prevent or how to treat the new childhood disorders: asthma, allergies, attention deficit disorder and autism.

The number of vaccines children receive has tripled since the early 1980s. In 1982, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control recom-mended 23 doses of 7 vaccines for children up to age 6.

Today’s typical 6-year-old has had 48 doses of 12 vaccines. (Toss in the flu shot, which may or may not be effective, and it boosts the number to 69 doses of 16 vaccines by age 18.) Immunization against diseases that were once a childhood rite of passage and that conferred lifelong immunity, such as chick-enpox, is now required for public school in many states, including Illinois. And the Hepatitis B vaccine is routinely given to babies the day after they’re born, even though the illness is contracted through blood transfusions and sexual activity. Parents wonder: “Why can’t the Hep B vaccine wait?”

But what really prompted questions was the 1997 decision by the Food and Drug Administration to remove the mercury-based preservative thimerosal from most vaccines as a precaution, due to concerns about the “theoretical potential for neurotoxicity” and the growing number of vaccines containing thimerosal on the immunization schedule.

Though no evidence of harm has been shown, a mental link to thimerosal was made, a scarlet letter on vaccines that re-mains to this day.

Several recent developments have sparked other questions about vaccines:

Dr. Bernadine Healy, the former head of the National Institutes of Health, told CBS News that she thinks “public health officials have been too quick to dismiss the (autism-vaccine) hypothesis as irrational.”

In March, government health officials conceded that childhood vaccines aggra-vated a rare, underlying cellular disorder in 9-year-old Hannah Poling that ultimately led to autism-like symptoms.

America might be over-vaccinating its kids and health officials might want to re-evaluate and adjust the immunization sched-ule, according to a study in the New England Journal of Medicine. But not because of health concerns; the vaccines might just be unnecessary and waste a lot of money.

A study in the journal Pediatrics found that 33 percent of pediatricians would strongly recommend the rotavirus vaccine if it were up to the doctor’s discretion. But if it becomes an “official” recommendation by the American Academy of Pediatrics, that number goes up to 50 percent.

Last year, a week after CDC announced that the influenza vaccine was effective against only 40 percent of the season’s flu viruses, it recommended that all children over 6 months get a flu shot.
Vaccination, considered to be one of medi-cine’s greatest achievements, is a personal decision that is often forced on people for the greater good. Parents who question vaccines are simply seeking information and advocat-ing for their children.

Woman said she forgot to drop son at day care before working hospital shift

HOUSTON - A 3-year-old boy was left in his mother's truck in 90-degree heat as she worked her shift at a hospital, then wriggled free from his car seat and even tried to start the ignition or open the windows before he died, officials said.

The mother of Cameron Thomas Boone told investigators she forgot to drop him off at day care. She returned to the truck about nine hours later to find him unconscious Thursday.

The woman broke the back windshield and called for help, but the boy was dead when she took him to North Cypress Medical Center, where she worked, Sheriff's Lt. John Denholm said. A key the child had put in the ignition automatically locked the doors, so the woman had to use a rock to break in, officials said.

Security guards were patrolling the lot, but the truck had tinted windows and it was difficult to see inside, Denholm said.

The sheriff's office would not identify the mother or disclose her position at the hospital. Calls to the hospital were not returned Friday.

No charges have been filed.

Commentary
Some people either do not think of the consequences of there actions or just pure neglect, which in the above case is more in line of child abuse.

There is also some people that in our modern times, that do not also think of the repercussions of there actions, either so they get the do not care attitude. This is why in certain parts of the world, they have very strict laws towards certain crimes, kind of like; one doesn’t wish to do this crime; if one will get hanged for it.

Then something I happened upon earlier, reading a different news story, that there is some cases where it is easier for a person to yell for help, when instead they need too think and help themselves to better there situation; especially those who blame others for there plight; while they sit on there hands, do nothing and complain.

The greatest achievements in life, came about by people taking the intuitive to just go and do it or make something better; too making a change for the better.

Children Reading Material is it good for them?

Arab publisher Salah Abassi told Jewish public radio that authorities ordered him to stop importing certain Arabic-language children's books.

I happened to have made a comment not long ago on my feelings about the Harry Potter books and the fact that I do not approve of these books. As to them being written in Arabic, Hebrew or by chance some language from Mars, it makes no difference.

While I do not believe in censorship or book banning, but I do have a problem is books especially created for children with the subject matters that are condemned by Allah (God); which in this particular case is Witchcraft or Sorcery, to anything associated with this matter; for the simple fact these types of subjects belong more on Satan‘s bookshelf then for good people.

It is well known through not only religious history, but other types, that material such as this causes temptation and at one time, it would isolate the person or person’s that took it upon themselves to learn or practice these types of subjects from Satan.

As for the book of Pinocchio, I actually do not have a problem, because personally I have not found anything really offense in this particular book; what I have found in my little reading of this story was an attempt to teach children to be good, instead of bad children.

While Pinocchio happened to be a childhood favorite of my mother’s and I am sure if she thought it had been harmful; she wouldn’t have let me know of the books existence, I am most assured on this fact.

There is a whole world of books that not only teach good subjects, but are educational and this is what one should think of when putting or allowing books to be put in children’s hands, because a child while they should understand the world around them, have a good education; it is not necessary to teach them the dark sides of life, for in doing this one creates sad or dysfunctional children in numerous ways on the long road and Satan always has an open door.

While my opinion is not just limited to the Jewish people, it should be a practice thorough out Palestine and I say this for the well-being of everyone.

Nevertheless, the foundation a parent or teacher gives to there children, especially reading material; creates the type of adult they will become.
